i feel all of your pain. I was born with a hormone deficiency and it causes my teeth to crumble. I brush my teeth and always have. I don't know what to do anymore. I stay in pain constantly. I have dental insurance and even with that i cant afford the co pays. They say its going to cost me 5000 dollars just to fix them. Thats not even veniers. It is rediculous. I would love to get my teeth fixed. In high school I had white straight teeth and now here at 26 I have so many cavities and chips that I find it hard to rest.

Hi, Pattycake

Trigiminal Neuralgia –TN is a unilateral, severe, penetrant pain of short duration and localized in the distribution of one or several trigeminal nerve branches. It can be idiopathic or sintomatic,Is a neuropathic pain due in its idiopathic form to vascular compression of the  trigeminal root (nerve).

About your daughter was diagnosed with TN  And your question …. ‘’ if there is a link between oral surgery and the damage to this nerve.

’’ Well,  if the diagnostic of TN is right …. No ,itsn't;  but don’t get confused with a Paresthesia .

Paresthesia is temporary or permanent loss of sensation that can occur after oral surgery. -some times we can see some pain in the first stages of recovery – The numbness results from pressure or damage to the nerve could occurs after an extraction and affects the tissues of the mouth including the tongue cheek lip or chin.

Paresthesia mostly occurs after third molar or wisdom tooth extractions as the roots of the bottom wisdom teeth are close to the inferior alveolar nerve canal in the mandibular (lower) jaw.

Back to your question …… is there a link….

Well… in medicine 2+2 is Not always 4.

It is good to know you are genuinely concerned about other people's dental health. I have been blessed with great teeth..I have a friend who has been homeless for 10 years..Some mental challenges and she has horrible dental problems. Most of her teeth have broken off at the gum line. But she does not let that get her down. Because she is challenged she has refused mental evaluation teatment and cannot get help..It is sad. Anyway I bet you hear these horror stories all the time..Are you familar with the term Trigiminal Neuralgia??I am trying to find out if there is a link between oral surgery and the damage to this nerve. Not by the dentist but by the trauma of the surgery..Any info is appreciated. My daughter was diagnosed with TN after oral surgery and a bad infection.. Have a Blessed Day.
